The
Hastings & Chipstead Mirror
The
frame is made from pieces of wooden floorboards from Hastings
Pier, salvaged from the skip when refurbishment was taking place.
The
mirror glass is also reclaimed, it was reclaimed via Chipstead
Scouts Jumble Sale.
The
timber was severely wire brushed to clean the muck and chewing
gum out, but leaves a distinct texture to the wood.

The
Womad-Smith Wardrobe
This
Wardrobe was a commission, it is made to measure to fit a particular
alcove with the timber coming from a variety of different sources.
The
Mahogany you can see has been reclaimed from sports centre changing
room seating, while the main frame is timber reclaimed from an
Off Licence in Old Oxted in Surrey.
The
upper trim and lower kick plates are reclaimed from a timber yard.
The panelling is shiplap from various sources, some from a previous
household installation and some from exterior building doors.

The
Pier Refurbishment Mirror
The
mirror glass? I am not sure where it came from.
The
timber for the frame is mainly off cuts from the new timber being
used to refurbish Hastings Pier, although one piece is old and
been replaced..

The
J. D. Timberstore
This
particular bed incorporates some sacrificial hardwood which is used
as packing around the sawn timber when banding for transportation.
I was kindly allowed to rescue it from the Timberstore skip.
Other wood comes from the conversion of the old Epsom Post Office
into a J.D. Wetherspoons pub.

The
Brighton Line Coffee Table
Made
from discarded sleepers found near the London to Brighton Railway
line and wire brushed clean. The feet are discarded insulators
used to hold the live rail up off the ground. Although
damage to tools is fairly excessive, the table looks great and is
very stable. It can easily be split up and moved in sections.
The
table was included in the TV programme '60 Minute Makeover' in the
BEDZED Development in South London.
The
picture of the table is from within its new home.

Chipstead
Gladiatress Mirror
The
mirror glass was purchased cheaply at the end of the Scout Jumble
Sale at Chipstead, Surrey.
The
timber on the other hand was part of the Roman Gladiatorial Arena
built in Bourne Wood, Farnham for the film 'Gladiatress' which
was a film starring the 'Smack The Pony' Girls.
I
was a film extra for this production taking the part of a Roman
Soldier.
This
picture is also taken in its new home.

The
Abbott Dining Table
This
table is made up from discarded Oak floorboards from 'The Abbott'
public house in Redhill, Surrey.
They
were ripped out and skipped during maintenance after a flood.
They were extremely dirty due to spilt ale and muck. You could
see where high heels had scratched the surface and they took a
long time to clean up. Once cleaned they were joined together
and made into this beautiful dining table.
The
Table currently resides in the BEDZED Show Home.
